Central Queensland’s Mon Repos beach has hatched the best turtle laying season in 28 years - and it’s not too late to experience this natural wonder.
Around 400 endangered Loggerhead turtles have visited the coastline this season to nest at the largest rookery in the South Pacific Ocean.
Every year from November to March, Mon Repos near Bundaberg usually welcomes back around 200 to 300 nesting turtles and their hatchlings but this season has seen a dramatic increase in turtle numbers

For more than three decades, Lonely Planet’s Shoestring Guides have been the bibles for travellers planning big trips on small budgets. Southeast Asia on a Shoestring is the newest version of Lonely Planet’s first ever guidebook (1973’s Across Asia on the Cheap), while South America on a Shoestring has inspired travellers since 1980.

- Electronic System for Travel Authorization Compliance Now Mandatory
- International Visitors Reminded They Must Have ESTA
- Must Be Organised Prior to Arrival at International Port of Departure
On the one-year anniversary of implementing the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reminds U.S.-bound travelers from Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries of the now mandatory ESTA requirement.
What is ESTA? ESTA is an electronic travel authorization that all citizens of VWP countries must obtain prior to boarding a carrier to travel by air or sea to the United States under the VWP.

Vanuatu's Pentecost Land Diving Ritual Opens Up |

Vanuatu’s world famous Pentecost Naghol land diving ritual - which has typically only been performed on Saturdays between April and June - will now also be held on Wednesdays and Fridays during this period.
Annie Niatu, general manager of the Vanuatu Tourism Office, welcomes the move by the Southern Pentecost Tourism Association, saying it is an important step to boost tourism to Pentecost.
“The Pentecost land diving ritual can only be held from April to June and people come from all over the world to see it. These extra days will allow a few more fortunate visitors to witness the ritual,” Annie said.
